Gretchen Ho is a volleyball player and a television host. She once competed for the Ateneo Lady Eagles as part of the renowned “FAB 5″ who brought the team to its first back-to-back UAAP championship appearance in 34 years. After her collegiate stint, she became the Ambassadress of the Philippines’ first ever semi-professional volleyball league, Philippine Superliga (PSL), and served as the team captain of the PSL Grand Prix 2014 champions, the Petron Blaze Spikers. After her indoor volleyball stint of 12 years, she has now shifted to playing beach volleyball for Petron XCS in the PSL and is very active in promoting beach volleyball all over the Philippines through her sports advocacy arm, Beach Volleyball Republic.
After her collegiate years, Gretchen has become more and more active with television work, hosting different shows such as Gameday Weekend (sports magazine), The Score (sports news) and Team U (sports advocacy). For the year 2015-2016, she was integrated into the ABS-CBN News Channel as the main host of The Daily Serve (sports, health and entertainment news) and a features anchor on the news outlet, Mornings @ ANC. She is currently an anchor on ABS-CBN’s morning show, Umagang Kay Ganda and a segment host on ABS-CBN’s flagship news show, TV Patrol.
Apart from volleyball and TV work, Gretchen is also very active with her advocacies on youth empowerment and sports grassroots development. She is the founder of The Inspired Project, a business-advocacy that creates and sells inspirational merchandise. She goes around schools and universities to give talks on topics that revolve around leadership, passion, career discernment, character-building, social responsibility and fitness. She is also one of the founders of Beach Volleyball Republic, an advocacy-oriented events group that travels around the Philippines to promote, teach and organize beach volleyball.
On her free time, Gretchen loves to travel and learn more about the world. She believes that the best kind of learning is gained through engagement with people, places and events. She believes that by becoming a “Woman-In-Action”, she will be able to fulfill the fullest of her potential and serve the world to the fullest of her capabilities.
